Everything is set to go for the summer! Since there are already enough students registered to run the course, we will keep registration open into July so that people who need more time still have a chance to get in. The first class on Monday morning is free and if you wish to register after that you can just head over to see the registration people.
To get an idea what kind of stuff you will be doing in the workshop check out some of Rayann's stylistic influences on YouTube:

For Intermediate to Advanced dancers Age 13-20
Monday July 14- Saturday July 19, 2008
In the Medicine Hat College Theatre
The Contemporary Summer intensive is a one week program for teen students with an intermediate or advanced level of ballet, jazz, or modern dance. The intensive focuses on contemporary dance: modern dance that is influenced by ballet, jazz, hip hop, and other movement styles. Students will study technique, improvisation, and learn how to create their own choreography. The intensive will prepare students for auditions, dance school, performing, and wherever they would like their dancing to take them.
The program will run Monday-Friday from 10:00am-4:00pm
Saturday July 19th 10:am-1:00pm
Schedule and Class details:
Contemporary Dance Technique 10-11:30am
Rayann teaches a center practice and moving across the floor that focuses on fluid movement, moving the spine, changing levels, having a blast in every part of the body and really dancing! Students will improve balance, strength, and use of weight and gravity.
Rayann creates a comfortable environment for students to learn the dance essentials of body awareness, contact improvisation, creative use of space and improvised group dynamics. The material assists students in finding their individual movement styles.
12:45-1:30 Lunch Break
Choreographic Class 1:30-2:30
Rayann will guide the students into their own movement resources and facilitate the development of individual or group choreographies. Students will learn about movement sequencing, patterns, choreographic concepts, and space. They will be prepared for future auditions and creative ventures.
Dancers will learn a piece of choreography that has been performed by Rayann in Vancouver. We will focus on the interpretation of the material, what makes a performance captivating, how to make seamless transitions from one movement to the next, and integrate technique concepts into the continual movement of a choreography.
Cost for the program is $275 + GST.
Students can register by calling Medicine Hat College Continuing Studies at 529-3844 or online at www.mhc.ab.ca/continuing-studies (MHC summer programs for kids).
